Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

It’s Christmas morning, and even the dog has gone back to sleep. Gone are the days where our three sons got up at the crack of dawn to see what Santa brought. Gone are the days of matching pajamas (although I’m threatening to bring that back next year). We are in the era of adult-children-before-grandchildren. We stay up late, we sleep late and sometimes we nap.
I’ve gotten up early to start breakfast. It wouldn’t be Christmas without caramel rolls and they are rising in the oven as everyone gets in their last winks. Grandmom will be over later, armed with grits. Also a part of our Christmas, but certainly not one I grew up with in South Dakota!
My niece has already sent me a video of her children opening up their presents – such excitement! We will have that one day again but for now, I will enjoy the quiet of Christmas morning. I’m also going to enjoy that first warm, middle caramel roll.
Merry Christmas my friends.

The early bird gets the warm, middle caramel roll!!
