3 Things I Learned From Blogging

3 Things I Learned From Blogging

I started my blog about a year ago. Many of you have been kind enough to visit my website and I appreciate that. Some of you visit my Facebook or Instagram and we share a few giggles there. It’s been a learning experience and a nice hobby. And I’ve learned a few things. What can you expect if you start a blog?

  1.  It’s tough to put yourself out there. There’s a fine line between sharing your life and spilling your guts. Frankly, no one wants to hear about your daily workout unless you fell off your treadmill and have the video to share. Actually, the stuff some people would like to hear about is exactly the stuff you shouldn’t be writing about. Raw, personal and exposing. Should we really be airing our dirty laundry just because we can?
  2. There are a trillion blogs out there. I am exaggerating. Maybe there’s only a million. 😉 I’m convinced you can find any topic you want. Some blogs are great and I enjoy reading them. I subscribe by email and it’s fun. Some are full of typos and misspellings and drive me nuts. Same kind of thing for Facebook – their and there, to, too and two – you get the picture. Grammar and spelling hell.
  3. There is help and fellowship. I have made friends with other tropical pages on Facebook and gotten to know the people behind the pics. I am a contributing writer to Grown and Flown,  Women Who Live On Rocks,  and Her View From Home.  I have also gotten involved in a blogging mastermind group with three experienced bloggers who are incredibly helpful. Their websites are:

Check out these websites. Interesting articles and great websites. They have also made me realize something. The world is any size you’d like. Our video call brings us together from Greece, India and the U.S. Social media can put an entire world on a small screen. It can do the same with your contacts and your world. Our technology enables people to be anywhere and still be in your world. George Jetson stuff.

It’s been fun. And certainly there’s a lot more to it than just these three simple things. Honestly, if it stops being fun, I will probably stop. There are some endorphins kicking in when there’s positive feedback and there’s disappointment when no one likes your stuff. But that’s the way it goes and why #1 is true. And why it’s sometimes worth it.

Thanks for stopping by. YOU are the main reason it’s fun! 💗
